For every cell of you that is human, on you and in you there are 10 bacteria.

If you added up all the genetic material (DNA) from both your human cells and your bacterial cells 99% would be bacterial and just 1% would be human. So depending on which metric you want to use you are only 10% or 1% human.

We interact  and coexist with microscopic environments (Microbiomes) 24 hours a day. Many of us are now familiar with the research in human gut health. Out of this research has emerged probiotics to supplement and balance the flora of our gut microbiome. Our buildings operate very much like our bodies and they also have very distinct microbiomes of their own. Dr. Jessica Greene has a great TED Talk about how the microbiomes in our buildings are closely associated with the Air Handling Unit (AHU) that serves that specific area.

AHUs and the coils inside of them are almost perfect Bio-Reactors, meaning they have the optimal conditions to grow very robust and diverse microbiomes. Biofilms are the communities that house, protect and nurture the bacteria that reside inside your AHU. Biofilms contain a wide variety of bacteria, molds, yeasts, viruses and protozoa. Biofilms receives new bacteria from both the indoor are and outdoor air that is mixed inside the AHU. There is absolutely no control of the incoming microbes or growth that occurs once inside. Sometimes these biofilms can turn hazardous to the occupants of the building in which they reside.

Biomik has integrated  a very special blend of probiotics into our three US patents. These products have given us the ability to clean and remove very entrenched and stubborn biofilms from coils and other nook and cranny structures were these biofilms reside. They also have the added benefit of being on the level of a food grade additive, PH neutral and contain no VOCs.
